Haralambos Kelisedes who was last week detained at the Lokmaci crossing with 110 packets of bonsai drugs was yesterday sent to prison.
Acting on a tip off the specialist drug team of the TRNC arrested the Georgian citizen Kelisedes on February 13th. He was found to have 440 grams of bonsai on him.
Police detained a number of other people during their investigations which have now been completed.
At Nicosia Court yesterday police testified that Mr Kelisedes was a citizen of Georgia currently living in South Cyprus. He has been ordered to be detained in Nicosia prison for up to 3 months until his court date.
A second suspect, Muaffak Yonluer has been released until his court appearance. He has however had his travel documents confiscated, paid a TL 10,000 bond and had to provide two guarantees of TL 50,000 each.
