Kyrenia’s specialist anti-drug police unit yesterday carried out a drugs raid on a house in Kyrenia. The raid, which was conducted from Thursday night right through to the morning, involved searches at eight homes and four arrests. Eight grams of drugs were confiscated. The synthetic cannabis that was discovered is a designer drug, often made by spraying natural herbs with chemical compounds.
This follows a major operation in Famagusta last week, where large amounts of cigarettes doctored with synthetic cannabis were discovered in a Famagusta house during a raid by a specialist anti-drug trafficking team. Three men were charged with possession of the drugs and appeared at Famagusta High Court on Thursday.
The Kyrenia Criminal Court has ordered that the men arrested in Kyrenia be detained for a further five days while investigations continue as police have a number of leads still to pursue.
