The main dome of the biggest mosque in North Cyprus has been completed.
The mosque is sited in a prominent place on the Near East University (NEU), campus and covers around 7.5 acres of land.
It will be the largest mosque in the TRNC and will be able to accomodate 10,000 worshippers.
It will be a “place of worship with the highest minarets in Cyprus.” There are a total of six minarets. Four of which are 72 meters high with three balconies and two minarets are 54 meters high with two balconies.
The mosque was designed by the university’s Architecture, Design and Engineering department. The motifs painted on glass and designed by NEU’s Fine Arts Faculty will symbolise Cypriot culture.
