The Turkish Cypriot Doctors’ Union (TIP-İŞ) has announced that it is temporarily suspending the doctors’ strike at all state hospitals and public health clinics.
The decision came following a meeting today between Health Ministry Undersecretary Kemal Deniz Dana and officials from the doctor’s union (TIP-İŞ) aimed at addressing the problems faced by doctors at state hospitals.
Speaking to reporters following the one hour-long meeting, the Health Ministry Undersecretary said that the ministry had worked overtime at the weekend to find solutions to the outstanding problems.
He said that the work carried out will be put onto the Council of Ministers’ agenda tomorrow.
The president of doctors’ union said that the health ministry had speeded up work concerning their demands.
She said that the union was suspending the doctors’ strike at all state hospitals and health clinics until Wednesday, 8 November.
