As reported last week, the continuing saga of dirty water in our capital.
The latest round of water purity tests continue to cause concern. These were carried out by the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association and cover Nicosia and the surrounding regions.
Samples from 41 districts were analysed and 29 were found to be dirty, with the Nicosia areas classified as very dirty. It appears that broken pipelines are allowing sewage and clean water to mix in many areas. This state of affairs is causing major concerns to the local populations and there has been a rise in illnesses with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. Despite angry calls from the public there has been no response from Nicosia Council at the time of writing.
