There was a major explosion at the Cilvegozu border crossing between Turkey and Syria yesterday (Monday) afternoon at approx 3pm.
Reports confirm that 13 people were killed and 28 others wounded, many of them seriously. There may be additional fatalities, however the other injured were taken back to the Syrian side. Three of the dead are Turkish nationals.
The explosion appears to have been from a car bomb passing through the buffer zone between the two countries. The entry of the car into the buffer zone from Syria as well as another suspect car were captured on CCTC and police are searching for two suspects.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erogan said that this incident showed how right Turkey was to implement its policy of humanitarian aid to the Syrian rebels and that the incident also confirms the tactics it uses against terrorists.
