David Lidington, Minister for Europe at the British Foreign Office, says the British Foreign Office is determined to see progress in Turkey’s EU accession process in 2013.
Speaking at a meeting at the Foreign Office, Lidington stressed that Britain was a strong supporter of EU’s expansion to cover Turkey, Western Balkans and Iceland.
“We support Ireland’s wish to open a new chapter in Turkey’s EU talks during the upcoming Irish term presidency,” Lidington also said.
Ireland will assume the EU term presidency on 1st January 2013.
