Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk has lost his appeal for reinstatement as leader of the ruling party UBP.
In October, he declared that he had won leadership of the UBP party during a vote at their annual convention. However this was bitterly disputed by his main opponent Ahmet Kasif.
Mr Kasif went to court and last month won a surprise judgement that froze the Prime Minister’s powers. Mr Kucuk went back to the Court of Appeal, but it has just emerged that the court rejected his appeal, saying that there were irregularities with the convention voting.
Developments to follow.
