We have just been informed that lawyers will not be attending any cases court tomorrow.
They are going on strike to protest against a proposed government amnesty on bounced checks. The government hopes to alleviate the issue where thousands of people may end up in jail because cheques they have issued could not be cashed. As part of the proposed law, lawyer’s fees related to such cases would be reduced.
The Bar Association says that they are not concerned about the reduction in fees but that the government should not be intervening in a judicial process.
