As reported last week there are major plans to upgrade the marketing of North Cyprus to potential tourists, particularly to Scandinavian countries where it is felt that there is substantial tourist potential.
A recent press statement from the Tourist Ministry has now outlined their plans for the major marketing push. Named ‘The North Europe Roadshow’, this campaign will be aimed at Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The Tourism Minister, Unal Ustel, has announced at a Tourism Convention in Denmark that his objective is to build strong ties between North Cyprus and Northern Europe. Mr Ustel described North Cyprus as the jewel in the Mediterranean, with many tourist attractions. He also stated that his department would be making a major push in the area of health tourism. North Cyprus currently offers many treatments at a much lower cost than private heathcare in the UK, such as dental treatment, laser eye surgery and IVF and the plan is to promote this to a wider European population.
This new initiative is supported by the Turkish Ambassador to Denmark, Turkish Airways, Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association and Cyprus Turkish Travel Agents Association.
