A boat carrying 174 Syrian refugees arrived at Kato Pyrgos yesterday. The boat which had sailed from Antalya, Turkey, was spotted off Pyrgos and was later towed to Kato Pyrgos, on the western coast of the island.
Police say that the 16—metre vessel had 81 men, 35 women and 59 children on board. Two of the women and a baby were taken to Paphos general hospital.
Later on, the police arrested a 30-year old Syrian man who was suspected of human trafficking. The migrants told police that they had paid between $1,000-2,000 each and had set off from Antalya on Thursday.
