The Turkish Cypriot authorities have handed over a British man suspected of the murder of George Barker in London in 2016.
Charles Riddington (36), was apprehended in August by Turkish Cypriot authorities. Riddington first arrived in North Cyprus in December 2017 using a Namibian passport under the name of Ricky De Bruin. Reportedly he left and re-entered the North a number of times.
The British fugitive is the chief suspect in the murder of 24-year-old George Barker. Barker was stabbed to death outside a martial arts gym in south London in 2016.
In August of this year, Riddington was arrested by the Turkish Cypriot authorities for entering the north illegally and using fake documents.
Police searched his home in Iskele and found large quantities of cash. Reportedly he confessed to Barker’s murder.
At Interpol’s request he was handed over to the Greek Cypriot authorities via the UN at the weekend. He remains in custody and will face an extradition hearing in court on Tuesday.
