The TRNC Attorney General has ordered the dismissal of 53 police officers including senior officers, for allegedly having connections to FETO, the terrorist organisation linked to the cleric Fethullah Gulen.
The Attorney General sent a letter to the Chief of Police Seleyman Manavoglu demanding the immediate dismissal of the police officers.
Reportedly, the police chief has not yet followed through with the order.
Following investigations, there are allegations that evidence was found that the police officers are users of ByLock, an encrypted messaging application used almost exclusively by Gulen supporters. Other evidence was the fact that the police officers were holding meetings with other members of the FETO organisation when they were visiting the TRNC.
