Parliament has approved the new working hours for public servants and employees on Monday.
According to the amended law, public servants will now be working 35 hours per week during the summer and 40 hours during winter.
Summer time working hours will come into force on the second Monday of May and will end on the third Monday of September.
The Council of Ministers will determine how the working hours will be arranged.
Speaking before voting on the amendment, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Serdar Denktaş said that there was no direct link between extending working hours and increasing efficiency.
He said that efficiency at public offices was directly related to performance of employees.
