An armed robber, one of two men who attacked a supermarket worker outside Kyrenia during the day, stealing the takings, was found hanged in his prison cell.
Ahmet Sarıkılıç and his accomplice Serkan Bilir attacked the supermarket worker with a hammer and made off with the money. They were arrested for armed robbery on 24 September. Four days later, shortly after having spoken with his lawyer, Sarıkılıç hanged himself with the drawstring of his shorts in a cell at Bogaz police station.
An autopsy revealed that he had suffered no other injuries, there were no marks or bruises on his body, therefore the verdict on his death was suicide.
