An ancient burial site has been discovered in Lapta. It is thought that the site dates back to between 58BC and 325AD in the Hellenistic period.
Minister for Tourism Faiz Sucuoglu, visited the site on Wednesday to speak to archaeologists working there.
Antiquities and Museums department manager Furat Azimli told reporters that artefacts dating back to the Hellenistic era had been discovered; once the dig was completed, they would be able to give more information on the find, he said.
Asked about the progress on restoration work being carried out on the Gamblers Inn (Kumarcilar Hani) in Nicosia, Azimli said they had reached the third stage of restoration, and as soon as funds were secured they would be continuing with it.
