President Nicos Anastasiades will not be providing party leaders who accompanied him to Geneva with any more documents relating to the current negotiations. News came that the contents of a leaked document were published by Sigmalive on Tuesday morning. The document details the disagreements on the property and governance chapters by both sides.
The south’s government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides told reporters that “It is distressing that such a climate should be created via leaks and various punch-lines, at a time when the president is waging a difficult battle.”
President Anastasiades, who was said to be furious, will continue to brief and confer with the politicians but would not be handing out any documents, the spokesman said.
It’s understood the leaked document dates back to November, containing the issues now being readdressed.
A number of the listed disagreements were common knowledge. Sigmalive cited 24 differences between the two sides in the document, 10 relating to governance and 15 to property.
The party leaders have made a point of decrying the leak with the notable exception, so far, of the leader of DIKO, Nicolas Papadopoulos.
