The 30th Book Fair organised by the Işık Book Store was launched last night.
The fair which is being held in the Kızılbaş Church in Lefkoşa under the theme “to grow, persistently and with hope” will run until 15th September.
During the opening which brought readers and writers together, photographs from previous years of the fair were displayed under the name “Exhibition of 30 Years.”
Turkish Cypriot singers Alkapon and Arda Gündüz also gave performances at the opening.
Panel discussions, poetry nights and chat meetings will be held throughout the fair which was also supported by the Turkish Cypriot Artists and Writers Union and the Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Union.
The fair which all books will be sold with 10% discount will be open from 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 12am all days except Sunday and from 5pm to 12am on Sunday.
200 pine tree saplings provided by the Forestry Department will be distributed to the visitors at the fair.
Meanwhile, as part of the fair, a panel called “Growing by Producing” will be held tonight.
The Mayor of Lefke Aziz Kaya, Mayor of Mehmetçik Cemil Sarıçizmeli, Mayor of Lefkoşa Mehmet Harmancı and the Mayor of Gönyeli Ahmet Benli will deliver speeches at the panel.
