In a Mardin-based operation in south-eastern Turkey, 24 military personnel of varying ranks were arrested on suspicion of having links to FETO. The arrests took place in 13 provinces of Turkey and in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The FETO organisation is widely believed to have been behind the attempted coup in Turkey on 15 July, 2016.
Mardin’s Chief Public Prosecutor issued arrest warrants for the suspects within the remit of investigations into the military network of FETO on 12 October.
Following the arrests, 18 suspects were remanded in custody and 6 were released on bail.
