The head of Tasyapi Construction, the company that won the Ercan privatisation tender was in Cyprus yesterday. Mr Emrullah Turanli attended a press meeting along with Prime Mnister Irsen Kucuk, Finance Minister Irsen Tatar, and Transport Minister Ersan Saner. During the course of this meeting he handed over an outsized cheque for 100 million Euros, the first payment for winning the tender.
Over the next 25 years, Tasyapi will be paying out a further 400 million Euros as part of the conditions for winning the tender. During this period, Ercan airport will be rebuilt to world class standards of safety and convenience and be able to handle any projected capacity.
