Nicosia Council Woes Continue

Council employees have returned to work after receiving back-pay. However it should be remembered that their December, January or 13th month salaries have still not been paid. In addition, the issue of national insurance payments has not been addressed.

Yesterday, Nicosia Town Hall had its electricity cut off because of non-payment of bills. Generators are currently being used to allow some services to be provided, but reconnection is far from certain.

Many council vehicles are still sitting in the council car parks because there are repair and maintenance issues. In addition, the temporary insurance cover provided for council vehicles runs out on February 8th. If this is not renewed then all vehicles will be grounded.
