New 200 million euro hotel and marina proposed for Lapta

Mayor of Lapta Fuat Namsoy has said that 200 million euros will be invested in the area with regard to the construction of a hotel and a marina. This project to develop tourism will be significant, not only for the local area but for the whole country, he said. The hotel and marina will be completed in four years, he said.

North Cyprus News - Fuat NamsoyThe mayor said that over the past three years, 63 kilometres of roadway had been constructed and the 3.5 kilometre-long coastal walkway would be completed next month.

According to official figures, there is a population 12,000 in Lapta, with the addition of foreign resident and tourists, that increases to 20, 000 for most of the year. Catering to this population had created financial problems, he said.

Namsoy also stated that Lapta municipality will participate in the ‘EU Green waste programme’. The project they presented to the EU has been approved and the council will receive 3 million Turkish Lira in funding, which will improve the financial state of the municipality.

Asked if he would run in the general elections next year, Namsoy said he would not. However he would stand in the local elections, noting that he had served as mayor of  Lapta for the past 24 years.
