The waste water pumping station on the outskirts of Kyrenia has been replaced.

According to a statement made by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, a new pumping station was built by the Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with Kyrenia Municipality, Lord’s Palace Hotel, Oscar’s Hotel and Kyrenia University. Previously there had been problems with overcapacity and wastewater being pumped into the sea.

The pumping station, which also includes the Scada automation system, can be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be able to intervene in case of a possible malfunction.

In addition, a new generator has also been put in place to back up the existing ones, so that the station is not affect by power cuts.
