British resident fails breathalyser test following car smash

24 January 2013

A British resident was involved in a motoring accident in Lapta last night.

Having lost control of his car, the vehicle mounted the pavement hitting and uprooting an electricity pole. It then crashed into a field before overturning.

The accident occurred on the Kyrenia- Guzelyurt road. Locals who came to his aid had a hard time freeing him from the vehicle. However, the man escaped with only minor injuries. He then refused to go in the ambulance that had arrived because the paramedics would not  allow his dog to go with him.

The man was taken to Lapta police station and on failing a breathalyser test was arrested. He will be attending Kyrenia court today.

KIB-TEK sent a team to repair the electricity pole and this has been completed.
